The Bend zone is located on the southeast corner of the Vulcan No.1 (L.819) crown grant, west of the Jordan River and northeast of Winkler Creek, at an elevation of 135 metres.

The area is underlain by basalt of the Eocene Metchosin Volcanics and gabbroic and diabase intrusions related to the coeval Sooke Gabbro. The basalt and gabbroic rocks are sheared, brecciated and altered. Granitic intrusions have formed large breccia zones with hornblendite and pegmatites intruding and filling the brecciated older rock.

The zone is hosted by gabbro and varies from 3 to 3.6 metres wide, striking north-south with a vertical to 65 degrees west dip for a distance of 60 metres. Mineralization consists of chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite.

Samples are reported to average 1 to 2 per cent copper over a width of 2.1 metres (Property File - unknown [unknown]: Notes, Letters and Reports on Sunro Mine). In 2004, a rock sample (S-04-AR-1) assayed 0.733 per cent copper and 3.8 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 27472).

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Sunro (MINFILE 092C 073) past-producing mine since 1915. In 2004, A. Kikauka completed a program of soil and rock chip sampling.
